LAN CARGO IS VOTED THE BEST AIRLINE IN LATINAMERICA

Santiago , May 12, 2008

Air Cargo News, the prestigious European magazine recently honored LAN CARGO naming it the Best Airline in Latin America. The distinction was given at the Air Cargo News annual awards ceremony distinguishing the best companies in the world.

The study took into account the opinions of international cargo shippers. This year the nominations included regional airlines that specifically serve a particular continent as well as nominations for honoring the best in the world. Air Cargo News reported receiving 19,000 votes online. The voting process was audited by BIFA (the British International Freight Association). The awards ceremony that took place in London was attended by nearly 500 executives representing the most prestigious air cargo companies in the world.

“It is a great honor to receive this important distinction largely because it represents the opinion of some of the most demanding cargo shippers in the world. We will continue working ardently to meet our clients’ needs by delivering service excellence, that is efficient and of the highest standards,“ stated Cristián Ureta, CEO, LAN CARGO.

LAN CARGO is headquartered in Miami, Florida. The operations center is housed at Miami International Airport and comprises over 40,000 square meters of land, making LAN CARGO the foreign airline with the largest infrastructure in the United States. The facilities are modern and equipped to handle imports and exports, feature refrigerated warehousing space, and offices to provide the best service possible to cargo customers worldwide.

LAN CARGO recently launched a new website offering diverse functionalities and services. The new E-tracking capabilities offer highly reliable information for cargo throughout the entire shipping process – from the moment the cargo is received at the warehouse, loaded into the aircraft, its subsequent departure and arrival, to the moment the cargo is delivered to the client at its final destination.

Additionally, LAN CARGO now offers Private Zone, a new service that requires a password to access and allows every user to define exactly the status information they wish to receive regarding their cargo. Once the user defines the parameters, Private Zone automatically provides the information online. “This tool is a true novelty since it provides our clients with personalized cargo shipment reports that are tailored specifically to every user’s needs,” added Cristián Ureta.

LAN CARGO has also developed a modern service that generates automatic status and transit reports that are delivered to clients via e-mail and to their cellular phones. “We are simplifying and automating our processes to improve our commitment to service excellence. Having the technology, capacity and forethought to communicate the exact whereabouts of cargo shipments to our clients, places LAN CARGO at the global forefront of technology and product offerings in this industry,” concluded Mr. Ureta.
